As a Commissioner I participated in accreditation decisions for intensive English programs, contributed to organizational governance, and served on the Standards Compliance Committee. I previously served on the Commission from 2006 to 2009, completing my service as Commission Chair in my final year. I re-joined the Commission in January 2019. In my role as site reviewer, I visited numerous domestic and international language schools and university-governed intensive English programs to verify claims made in accreditation self-studies and make recommendations to the Commission. As a member of the Nominating Committee, I identified and selected nominees to serve on the Commission. As Appeals Board Chair, I led a committee to determine whether a denied site had received a fair and and appropriate accreditation procedure from the Commission.

I served as a thesis advisor to students in the Doctor of Law and Policy program, covering topics such as services to LGBTQ residents of retirement homes, the effects of school-wide positive behavior intervention and supports on student achievement, and homelessness and the law.

Under my direction, CELOP launched seven innovative programs, including English for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a teacher development program in Madrid, and a summer high school program, with new enrollments exceeding 200 students. I led faculty in a comprehensive review and revision of the CELOP curriculum, resulting for the first time in a published curriculum document integrating goals, learning outcomes and objectives, methodology, assessment, and co-curricular activities and support.I launched the CELOP Info Hub, an online information source and communication tool for faculty and staff (in Wordpress). I initiated and led OISE Boston through accreditation with the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation. OISE Boston was the first weekly rolling-intake English language school to achieve this. As PDSO, I led the effort to secure SEVP approval to issue I-20 forms to international applicants. And I directed sales and marketing using a primarily web-based strategy, resulting in $700,000+ in annual direct and agency sales.
