I have devoted my career to making life opportunities available to people from all over the world through international education. As a teacher and administrator, I have always been driven by the knowledge that learning languages, traveling to new places, and engaging with people from other cultures broadens the mind, fosters mutual understanding, and creates the conditions for peace in the world. In support of this world view, my work encompasses the design and delivery of academic programs, student services provision, administration and financial management, and accreditation. I began my teaching career with the JET Program in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, where I taught English and French in high schools and adult education programs. Following this, I taught English in a Japanese high school in Switzerland, and launched the school’s French program. I held various teaching positions in schools in the U.S., before leaving the classroom and moving into program administration. I established and managed an English language school in Boston’s Back Bay, then moved to Northeastern University to direct English language programs and the country's first pathway program. During this time, I was a site reviewer and commissioner with the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA), and served as commission chair in 2009. I also served on the EnglishUSA board for five years. I am currently overseeing programs at Showa Boston, putting students first in a life-changing experiential study abroad sojourn in this great city. Originally from England, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in European Studies at Bradford University, and my Master’s in TESOL at the Institute of Education, University of London. I completed my Ed.D in International Education at Northeastern University in 2013.
