About Alan Carrillo

I’m a Texas attorney—born in Longview, raised in Bedford, and residing in Dallas. I am an associate at Brown Fox PLLC—a full-service, business-boutique law firm based in Dallas and Frisco—in our Dallas office. In 2019–20, I served as an inaugural law clerk to U.S. District Judge Brantley Starr of the Northern District of Texas. I formerly practiced at two international law firms in Dallas—Foley & Lardner LLP (formerly Dallas-based Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP) and Dallas-founded Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.As a litigator with a corporate bankruptcy background, I help individual and commercial clients find legal solutions for their business problems in boardrooms and state and federal courtrooms. At prior firms, I primarily represented debtors, creditors, and committees in chapter 11 cases, out-of-court workouts, and adversary proceedings and appeals. I now focus on commercial and bankruptcy litigation.I've always sensed I'm supposed to be an advocate for others. But it was not until after college that I wanted to be a lawyer. My year interning for International Justice Mission (IJM) in Kenya, working to represent disadvantaged clients and to reform the public justice system in Nairobi, confirmed my calling of advocacy through a career in law. I prioritize pro bono work, including for Dallas-based Advocates for Community Transformation (Act).I also enjoy studying and discussing first principles, political theory, and constitutional law. I've been awarded fellowships with National Review Institute, the James Wilson Institute, and Blackstone Legal Fellowship. I also serve on the boards of the Federalist Society's Dallas lawyers chapter and Texas Young Lawyers chapter and as president of the Federal Bar Association's Dallas chapter.I especially love living in East Dallas—between Downtown and White Rock Lake—with my wife, two children, and two Labrador retrievers, and investing in our community. I volunteer as the District 4 Commissioner (and former District 14 Commissioner) on the City’s Judicial Nominating Commission, and my wife and I serve together as co-chairs of the Justice Leadership Council (a young professionals advisory board) for local non-profit Act.
