I was initially hired by WPGL, on a contract basis, to author and project manage a specialist Structured Framemaker project for new Shipbuilding Rules produced by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). This project lasted 24 months in which time I took a front-line role where, on the project management side, I was responsible for liaising, both remotely and on site in Paris and London, with the project stakeholders and engineering authoring teams. I led the direction of project tasks and delivery of collateral from the graphics and copy setting teams here in Scotland and in India. I was also responsible for the SharePoint document sharing, storage and backup systems and instrumental in developing the maintenance and documentation update processes after project deployment.On the Technical Authoring side I was responsible for the creation and management of the +1000 page structured document created from raw source text by multiple technical teams worldwide. I was also responsible for the creation and editing of the structure definition documents, templates, and for the project delivery drafts and final PDF.I cover a range of roles now at WPGL, including the management and development of the company’s electronic repository of knowledge. I develop all Structured Framemaker output and develop processes to assist the training of colleagues and customers. I write all the user manuals, update the original IACS project, edit electro-technical engineering books, produce and test all of our eBook packages, provide software support to customers and hardware support to my colleagues.

I managed the entire start-up of this company working directly with the Business Owner, the marketing and sales director, and the web development agency. Covering the dual roles of Project Manager and CTO, I was responsible for all technical process development, business process development, training, customer contact, overall web site design, and update and maintenance. My role was completed a few months after deploying the website and the social media aspects of the project, and when all the maintenance and business-as-usual tasks and workflows were in place.

My role with Craneware was originally in support of their bespoke Chargemaster toolkit; remuneration software used in the American Hospitals system.
