Having IT work for our clients instead of against them is one of my personal measures of success. New technologies bring new challenges. Utilizing new technologies without disrupting our workforce by assisting to provide powerful new tools helps us all to be successful.I have implemented lasting environments with a host of specific applications, networks, security systems, phones & many aspects of hardware. Primary tools have been Microsoft Windows platforms for personal computers, I built and administered MS server environments using Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Lync & other tools. Applications have been specific to those using them. Clients know what they need to be productive, integration to others within the enterprise has been key. I implemented and administered security, virtualization, SAN space and remote application solutions that played a large part in the success of each enterprise.

We secured donations of an AS400, an RS6000 and a lab of 11 PS/1s from IBM to get us started. We converted and modified software packages for Faculty Computing and we implemented student labs. Donations from BP and other sources meant that when we turned the operation over to local management, the Institute had over 40 PCs on a small Token Ring network and fully functional Student and Academic computing platforms. My responsibilities included setting up the server & network infrastructure, implementing student registration and grade reporting systems, maintaining all systems, soliciting other donors of hardware, training local staff. The original store and forward e-mail system (kaznet) pioneered at KIMEP in 1992 was operational for many years, providing free services to institute students and faculty.
