At the beginning of the routine, an SQL query was fetching millions of records from the database, compiling them with new data, and then writing to another table. The query was reading records from the database and paginating 100,000 records at a time. As it progressed through the pages, the query's performance degraded until it reached a point where the process timed out and couldn't be completed. I addressed the issue by parallelizing the offer processing. The algorithm first counted the total number of records needing synchronization. With the total count in hand, the algorithm calculated how many parallel jobs were needed to process the records in batches of 100,000. Finally, it scheduled a job for each batch of offers to run in parallel, each with its own SQL query. The process that previously couldn't be completed in 48 hours now runs in less than 4 hours.
