Software Architect and Development Manager of the Omnex Content Management system targeted to the Newspaper Publishing industry. - Sr. Member of the Architecture and design team- Led the technical liaison team comprised of Atex product managers and designers, and Sr. Design staff of Bitstream Inc. creating detailed functional and technical specifications for the Bitstream NuDoc composition engine. - Managed development team of 12 engineers creating the Omnex Editor and Pagination system. Responsibilities included Project Planning, technical implementation and leadership, mentoring, and performance reviews and appraisals.- Led research into extensibility and customizability of thick client apps, leading to the full integration of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications into all Omnex applications. The Deadline Editorial System was a PC based client/server system running on OS/2 utilizing a combination of 3GL and C code interfaced to a Sybase database. Deadline incorporated the Atex WES composition engine for full composition fidelity with the integrated AIX/Unix based Editorial Pagination system. - Led the design team for client applications, and integration with external subsystems.- Managed team of 8 developers implementing the system. Responsible for project schedules, code reviews, and interfacing with the database design team.- Evaluated 3GL tools: including VB, PowerBuilder, Gupta SQLWindows, etc. Chose SQLWindows as the best choice for functionality, productivity and price.- Responsible for decision to use OS/2 to support 32 bit multitasking required by the typographical composition engine.- Performed technical demonstrations and sales support at customer sites and trade shows.- Installed, configured, and supported system at beta-site and other customers.
