City Centre Development Programme LeadNelson City Council Dec 2018 - Dec 2022Nelson, Marlborough & Tasman, New Zealand- Te Ara ō Whakatū – The Pathway of Nelson. Nelson City Centre Spatial Plan. Lead the engagement and delivery of Nelson's 30-year vision for the city centre as a people-focused, place-based destination. Received 80% support via public feedback and adopted in November 2021.- Tactical Urbanism: successful and vibrant activation pilots in response to findings from Nelson Public Life Surveys, including the Riverside Youth Pop-Up Park and Upper Trafalgar Street.- Nelson Public Life Survey. Applying Jan Gehl's successful methodology for winter and summer pedestrian activities across 30 locations in the city centre of Nelson, New Zealand.- Nelson City Centre Streetscape Standards. Developed a new hierarchy of materials and pedestrian amenity for the city centre and surrounds. 2020- Feature Lighting and Multi-function Poles, Upper Trafalgar Street. Led the design and delivery of seven 9m tall feature light structures including colour LEDs, catenary overhead lights and event power points to activate Nelson's premier city centre pedestrian space.- Six Key Moves - City Centre Programme Plan. City Centre Programme Leader -Auckland Design OfficeAuckland Council Jun 2016 - Nov 2018Auckland, New Zealand- Delivery of the City Centre Masterplan with a focus on the Downtown Auckland waterfront along the Waitemata Harbour. Led the development of the Downtown Plan to improve pedestrian linkages between the city centre and the waterfront, including the new public space at central wharves, laneways, re-prioritisation of Quay Street for pedestrian and cycle users and public transport (new bus interchanges and ferry access).- Led the procurement, organisation, and ongoing collaboration hui for the Downtown Collective, a group of six of New Zealand's leading landscape architecture practices to develop a cohesive range of waterfront-based project deliveries in anticipation of America's Cup and APEC Conference planned for 2021. Key projects included Quay Street upgrade, Te Wananga (Downtown Public Space), Britomart Laneways, Quay Street Bus Interchange at Britomart, design integration with CRL with Lower Queen Street, Lower Albert Street and Queens Wharf and QW Ferry infrastructure. This major programme of works entailed close coordination with major seawall infrastructure upgrades. A significant outcome of this work was a new method of engaging and revealing design through the Collective with mana whenua to develop a coherent response across the Downtown waterfront programme, moving from Auckland to Tāmaki.- Led the design and development of PlaceKit, a range of colourful, moveable and inter-connecting seating/planting modules for place-based activation trails across Auckland's CBD.- Auckland Design Office liaison to City Centre Rail design team to better align and integrate plans with City Centre Masterplan and specific reference designs with new CRL stations and streetscapes.- Attendance and report writer serving Auckland's Urban Design Panel for major city centre projects. -
