Alan Himelfarb states, "So pleased to be working with the founder, board of directors, advisory board, and community stakeholders in saving the lives of sudden cardiac arrest victims through widespread free CPR/DEFIB education and placement of lifesaving defibrillators everywhere in public.Few of us realize that cardiac arrest is our nation's biggest killer, more than 400,000 Americans every year, and more than the next six diseases combined. The national save rate is just 8%, but early care provided by citizen first responders can save thousands more. We have all the knowledge and tools to save so many, and we work every day to save more precious lives." Starting Hearts is growing and looking for passionate affiliates across the nation. Starting Hearts™ was formed in 2010, three years after its founder, Lynn Blake, suffered a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in Vail Village on Valentine’s Day. She was an otherwise healthy 27- year-old when her heart stopped without warning. Due to the quick intervention of bystanders, who dialed 911, performed CPR and used an Automatic External Defibrillator.
