I am a Partner in the Employment Team at Morton Fraser MacRoberts. I have advised clients exclusively on employment law issues as a qualified lawyer since July 2002, having trained with a niche employment law firm. I am accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law. I have appeared in employment tribunals across the UK as well as the Employment Appeal Tribunal and also dealt with a number of complex high-value mediations. I advise employer clients across a range of sectors, including food and drink, on all aspects of employment law, including complex disciplinary, grievance and discrimination law issues as well as collective redundancy situations, TUPE (with particular experience of private finance projects in the health and education sectors and also in multi-party litigation), contractual advice, restructuring, working time, minimum wage, trade union issues and industrial action.I regularly speak and write on employment law issues as well as delivering training for HR professionals and managers. I have a keen interest and expertise in human rights, data protection, freedom of information, privacy, and social media issues, having undertaken a masters degree (LLM) in Human Rights Law.I tutor and lecture postgraduate law students in employment law on the Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh University, having previously tutored in employment law for many years at Heriot-Watt University. I have published a chapter of employment law case digests and commentary on human rights issues in the Scottish Human Rights Service and also a chapter within the ICAS syllabus textbook Business Law in Scotland.
