It was an awesome year, I learned a lot and worked with some great people. The BIG Picture Library was an online photo gallery with clean, simple, flash based templates. Originally written in Java using Struts, Spring & Hibernate, it was later integrated with the Grails framework. This was provide additional back end admin functionality and ultimately to speed up the development process for future enhancements. Grails is able to seamlessly use existing Hibernate mapped domain classes within generated controllers, services and views.

Based at IBM Hursley Research Labs, worked on web based projects, based both on site and at customer sites, worked with teams of developers and designers, absorbing their knowledge and experience to quickly build a firm foundation of core web skills. Projects included HMV, Sainsbury’s Supermarket, Equifax and BAA.

After work placement with Data Sciences as part of MSc, invited to join as a graduate and worked on projects for the House of Commons, Finland Air Traffic Management and a number of research projects.
