Howdy, I'm Alan Jiménez, Texas A&M graduate from 2016. I'm currently a part of the model governance team in S&P Platts, ensuring that our models are conceptually sound and transparent. Before my life as an Aggie graduate, I lived all of my life during the rougher, more violent part of Ciudad Juárez and El Paso's history. When the cartel violence and the wave of crime subsided as economic activity returned and employment opportunities became more common, I began to understand first-hand the power that economic development has to increase safety and quality of life. I entered the Economics program at the University of Texas at El Paso to learn more about economics and I'm now proud to announce I will be graduating from Texas A&M by the end of 2016. My research interests have focused on economic development and energy economics. I am fluent in Python, R, Matlab, STATA, SAS, and Eviews.For more casual languages, I am also fluent in English and Spanish, and I know enough French to have acted as liaison for my research supervisor with a French client at UTEP. I have also written a poem in Lojban, but that might only be mildly impressive to the other 22 nerds in the world who know how to speak Lojban.
