After completing one year of studies, I left to start my own business in the logging industry. My sawmill business was very successful, and it allowed me to provide needed assistance to people in my community. I also purchased my own ambulance, which was used to serve residents of the municipality.Providing this community service quickly established good will and after four years I was approached with the idea to run for public office. Encouraged by the community, I ran as an independent candidate for Municipal Councilor of Initao. I was voted as number one choice for Councilor! As a public servant, I provided community service for 11 years. My own family had always dreamed of coming to Canada. I sold my business, finished my last term in office and left the Philippines for Canada to support their dream. After arriving in Canada, I worked in various rolls, maintaining steady employment to support my family. In 2013, I decided to try something new and obtained a job in the construction field. The physical activity, variety of tasks, teamwork, work culture, and fantastic coworkers – I loved it!Things took a turn in 2019 when I was diagnosed with cancer. This required time off work for treatment and recovery. As a cancer survivor, I was looking for a reduced physical labour role. A position that would keep me busy, where I can be part of a team and be a contributing member to society. The position with Park2Go worked perfectly. I thrive in an environment where employees are supported and empowered by their manager and where a positive workplace culture is promoted. Cooking is one of my passions as well as spending time, every day, walking with my German Shepherd, Zeus.
