About Alankar Chandra
Just a traveler on the path of life, literally and figuratively. Started with the traditional and “popular” career choices available in India. Started with an Engineering degree from Delhi College of Engineering and then an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. Then I worked in the banking and consulting sectors for a few years and eventually realized my true calling, which lies in travel, photography and exploration. I travelled, travelled and travelled more. Have traveled more than half the globe and experienced a multitude of cultures, people, wildlife moments, food and made some great friends for life. Love treks, wildlife parks (special love), birding tours, landscapes, northern lights, road trips, off-beat cruises, food tours and all things which are off-beat and experiential travel. As a by-product picked up the passion for nature and wildlife photography. Have published my travel stories and photographs in international publications and picked up a few nature photography awards along the way. When I ventured into entrepreneurship, it is this passion that I wished to share with my guests and treat them to authentic and unique travel experiences around the globe, which are off the beaten path. Something that brings a smile on their face and something they remember for life. Thus Wild Voyager (www.wildvoyager.com) was formed in 2016. Today we specialize in African Safaris, Nordic Tours and limited Indian Safaris and are happy to bring smiles on the faces of thousands of guests. We operate from our New York, Nairobi and New Delhi offices and are a part of all major travel trade associations. During my travels to Masai Mara national reserve in Kenya, I came across an opportunity to run a wildlife property in the heart of Masai Mara. I acquired and rebranded it into Olgatuni Camp (www.olgatuni.com) in September 2019. It is a beautiful 14 tented property set on a huge 30 acre forested patch. We are upgrading the facilities for the guests, but at the same time increasing the forest cover even further, and strive to give a sustainable and carbon friendly safari experience to our guests. These days apart from my two ventures, I am also involved with a few wildlife conservation projects. I have also been a regular speaker at B-schools and different industry forums. I usually shuttle my time between Kenya, India, USA and my global travel pursuits. Am happy to help any startups seeking advice or to speak at any industry or educational event. If you have a conservation project, I will be happy to support you in all ways I can.
