SeeChange Health Insurance, a subsidiary of SeeChange Health, LLC, offered value-based benefit medical plans to groups of 2-to-200 or more in California and Colorado. After substantial growth in both states, SeeChange Health, LLC left the insurance business to focus on growing its software subsidiary. The company, now known as HealthMine, offers the first and only Personal Clinical Engagement Platform.

Insurance Neighborhood combined the convenience of the Internet and the service of community-based brokers to help Californians obtain individual medical coverage. It was a great idea, but perhaps a bit ahead of it's time. Alas. But who knows, something may yet emerge from the Neighborhood.

Held various sales positions within WellPoint over eight years including:SVP, Individual and Small Group Sales for Blue Cross of CaliforniaSVP, Individual and Small Group Sales for WellPointSVP, Strategic Distribution for WellPointAlan led WellPoint's deployment of sales technologies adopted by thousands of independent brokers across the country. Sales and Marketing magazine recognized those innovations and Alan's creative strategies for channel conflict management when naming WellPoint one of "America's Top 25 Sales Forces" in July 2000.

In 1983 Alan became the first full-time employee of Multiple Services Inc. a California-based employee benefits general agency. He helped lead the company to substantial growth (taking two years off to be the Chief of Staff to California's Lt. Governor). Multiple Services merged with West Coast Insurance and Financial Services to create West Coast Multiple Services (the name was changed to Centerstone Insurance and Financial Services in 1993). As a partner and member of Centerstone's leadership team Alan was instrumental in raising the profile of the company and establishing it as one of the most successful employee benefit general agencies in the country. Employers Health Insurance purchased the employee benefits GA in 1994 and named Alan the Executive Director of the subsidiary. (EHI was later acquired by Humana). Centerstone grew substantially during this time and expanded to Colorado. Alan left Centerstone in December 1996 to join ChannelPoint.

Alan served as Chief of Staff to California Lt. Governor Leo McCarthy. During this time the office focused on environmental protection, economic policies devoted to helping middle-class Californians, housing and public safety.
