Responsible for building & maintaining the relationship and working interface between the Finance, Debt and Metering Business departments of British Gas and IS for all their technology related needs. This is predominately system changes and enhancements but covers all Business as usual activities with a technology element.Proactively evolving the business strategies based on the technological inputs, defining what can and can not be realistically achieved. Contribute to solution options, and project intelligence, seeking to solve a range of business issues, and maximise efficiency and growth opportunities. Proactively lead the development of Business area plans to articulate, agree and manage the relationship between the business units and IS.Responsibility for improving the existing technology portfolio’s performance.

Responsibility to deliver Business Area Change Programme for British Gas Residential Energy. This was in excess of 50 projects delivered and a change budget of £16m. Developed a project capability to deliver the change portfolio in a challenging climate. Developed a high performing team.

Responsible for the delivery of the Customer Transfer Programme for British Gas whilst the company was migrating to a SAP billing system. This scope of this change cut across all the major British Gas systems as migration occurred over the lifetime of the project.

Responsible for providing the forecasting of all supply and demand for 1600+ IS Staff. Also responsible for the development of the strategy for Resource Management, to manage the development and assignment of 50 high achievers and to manage the IS Graduate Scheme. This role was reporting directly to the Head of Resources Planning and Allocation for Centrica IS. Responsible for career management of a team of 50 Senior Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects and Designers, assigned across all the major projects within Centrica Group of Companies e.g. British Gas, Onetel, Centrica Business Services, Centrica Energy and until recently, the AA. Responsible for recruiting and coaching senior staff to enable them to develop interpersonal and technical skills in-line with their current job profiles and those they would be aiming for in the future.

Responsible for management and leadership of a new department to manage the outsourced development capability. Responsibilities included providing leadership, sourcing strategy, direction and decision-making in the area of system enhancements for the Domestic Gas Billing System and Electricity Billing Systems for British Gas. Recognised through promotion to a more senior role. Directly managed a team of 30 senior managers responsible for external spend of £60m and delivered benefits in excess of £250m per annum. Direct responsibility for system developments to comply with regulatory changes – these enabled the business to retain its licence to trading.Responsible for the relationship with a range of external suppliers including Fujitsu, Xansa and Accenture for the outsourced work.

A range of roles including responsibilities for Programme Office (in excess if 150 change Projects) , Account Management (£40m Project budget per year), Billing Systems Management (£15m budget), Supplier Management (£40m budget), Customer Operations (Resources) Manager (operation of 1500 + staff) , Marketing Information Manager (marketing intelligence and sales delivery for Midlands region). Success recognised through 2 promotions during this period.
