Fundrise is an investment platform that allows individuals to invest in private real estate deals, private equity, and other investments that are typically unavailable to individual investors. I lead the backend technologies that manage funds, validate investors, handle payments, and more. I have also led many of the cybersecurity improvements for Fundrise. The tech stack is primarily Java running on AWS.

VP of Software Engineering for Capital One's mobile and web credit card apps and the platforms that back them. I lead over 40 agile teams and 280 engineers focused on delivering great customer experiences across iOS, Android, and web channels. Behind these apps is a highly scalable and resilient services layer running on AWS. We architect for the cloud, using a combination of microservices and serverless technologies.Recent large accomplishments and projects:- Rearchitect backend systems to be cloud-native on AWS for greater scalability and resiliency- Built platforms to enable more dynamic and intelligent user experiences for Capital One customers. This was built using backend services and cross-platform UI technologies to allow for building user interfaces once for web, iOS, and Android- Rearchitecture of web UI using Angular. This was an effort encompassing over 70 teams across the Card division. We completed it on time and on budget- Established Security Champions program to build cyber skills and awareness within the engineering organization. Established and integrated threat modeling into the agile development process- Tech strategy development for digital products

Integrated Invincea's Machine Learning technologies into Sophos Endpoint Security products. Led development of the Sophos Endpoint Detect & Response (EDR) cybersecurity product.

Acquired by Sophos in 2017.Invincea built and sold a line of innovative desktop security products. We created the #1 performing next-gen anti-virus product using machine learning techniques and an endpoint protection product using application containers. Our products protected some of the largest and best-known organizations in the USA. I was head of technology from the early-stage startup in 2009 until an acquisition in 2017. This included all software development, quality assurance, DevOps, and more. I built agile product development teams from the ground up to a team of 40. We were often complimented for innovative ideas, speed, quality, and most importantly, the ability to execute.

Built software and electronics products to help electric utilities and consumers cut energy costs and reduce the environmental impact of producing energy. We focused on products that helped electric utilities build and manage the “smart grid”, the next-gen electric grid that can be managed as a network of intelligent devices.

Led a multi-national organization of 170+ software engineers. We built some of the world’s most popular products including AIM and ICQ Instant Messaging, Social Networking, and Community products. End-to-end product development on multiple platforms and with many technologies.

Led the migration of ICQ Instant Messaging backend systems onto the AIM/AOL Instant Messaging infrastructure. Several years as Software Engineer developing software infrastructure for highly scalable servers on UNIX platforms.Team Lead and Architect of Enterprise Management Systems, Partner Web Hosting group, and Internet Operations group during a period of hyper-growth at AOL.
