I am the partner in charge of Assouline & Berlowe, P.A.’s real estate practice. Assouline & Berlowe, P.A. is a multi-office South Florida business litigation and transaction law firm serving the business, real estate and intellectual property needs of local, national and international clients. My practice focuses on all aspects of real estate including representing individuals and companies in acquiring and developing commercial, residential and condominium properties and in negotiating related financing documents. I also help clients navigate the governmental permitting process including site plan approval, platting and zoning variances as well as negotiating construction documents and budgets with contractors and architects, and representing the owner’s interests during the construction process. In addition to representing clients in all types of real estate transactions, a portion of my practice is devoted to representing investors and developers as well as institutional and private lenders in work-outs, foreclosure litigation and in bankruptcy proceedings. Because I have practiced real estate law in South Florida for more than 35 years I can quickly analyze situations, evaluate the costs and benefits to the client, and recommend the most appropriate and cost effective course of action. I have a longtime "AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale and Hubbell and am among a select group of Florida attorneys designated as a Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED) Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Green Building Certification Institute. This designation qualifies me to assist building owners and managers with the LEED certification process and building ratings system and making buildings more energy efficient. In addition, I can assist clients by helping them plan and implement their green building strategy by identifying available green building economic incentives, related contracting issues, and creating green leasing requirements.
