A well known and respected player in the ICT arena, Alan has particular interests in leading edge technology and the services deriving. Alan was closely involved with the early days of smartcards and biometrics which has led to his specialisation in the transport sector where he advises on a wide range of transport support services including ticketing, tolling, and congestion charging/road pricing across the world. Today, the Covid pandemic has focussed minds on making the future world a better place to live in, which has led to new infrstructure projects aimed at creating a platform for integrated public services, variously included under the headings MaaS, mobility services, Smart Cities and our all-encompassing term - Smart Living. Alan is at the forefront of this work and he advises on how the transport sector can lead in this migration by, for example, using account based ticketing solutions as the basis for moving forward into an integrated world, as well as advising those leading in these new areas on the integration of different sector services into a single, data centric and customer centric environment. Alan's company, ALCO Consulting, has two divisions, a technology division supporting the services described above, and commercial division, providing program amd project services including project assurance reviews, project rescues, independent certifier roles, governance restructuring and procurement. To date, the division has carried out over 300 reviews of major and mission-critical projects. Our two divisions work closely together, providing an all encompassing one-stop-shop for those seeking to become leading players in this new connected world.
