About Alan Leonardi

Alan Leonardi is a seasoned executive and advocate for ocean science and technology, with over 25 years of experience in leading and managing diverse programs, initiatives, and partnerships across government, academia, industry, and nonprofit sectors. He is currently the Director of the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP) Office at Integrated Systems Solutions, Inc (ISS), where he provides program management, leadership, and delivery of all services in support of U.S. government agency efforts to promote the national goals of assuring national security, advancing economic development, protecting quality of life, ensuring environmental stewardship, and strengthening science education and communication through improved knowledge of the ocean.Prior to joining ISS, Alan served as the President and CEO of the Consortium for Ocean Leadership (COL), and as the Director of the Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER) at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In these roles, he oversaw and supported expeditionary exploration activities, advanced undersea research and technology development, and strategic direction and management oversight for a consortium of the leading ocean science and technology institutions. He also co-chaired the National Ocean Mapping, Exploration, and Characterization (NOMEC) Council and served on several international advisory boards and projects. Alan holds a Certificate of Executive Qualifications issued by the United States Office of Personnel Management, Qualifications Review Board, and a Certificate in Business Communication issued by the American Management Association. He is staunch ocean science and technology advocate and has a passion for ocean literacy and outreach.
