Successfully led ING’s re-entry into term life insurance and other markets. Budget $2M, 17 employees.• Spearheaded the development of industry-leading products; increased sales from 17,000 paid policies in 2005 to over 200,000 paid policies today. Application counts increased from 200/week in October 2005 to over 5,000/week in 2009, with both new sales and operating profits reaching $300 million.• Drove end-to-end reviews of all Employee Benefit lines of business including group products and medical stop-loss; developed successful new series of voluntary products and initiated new focus on affinity/association markets.• Created new distribution channel with all major Internet-based term direct marketers, broadening ING’s reach and sales. From a late 2006 standing start this channel reached $45 million of first-year annual premium, about 20% of ING total. This included distribution through major banks including Citibank, Bank of America & US Bank.• In a 3-year period, introduced 24 new products/riders, from term, universal life and variable universal life, to critical illness, accident and hospital indemnity, as well as a refreshed stop-loss contract. This helped generate the $300M sales and profits noted above.• Selected to serve on a CEO-led committee tasked with formulating strategy on talent development and corporate culture; also selected as Insurance leader to help develop ING’s long-term strategy; developed ING Insurance University to educate staff on basics of insurance; developed ING for Life, an innovative website to reach middle market customers.
