Assisting with the design, implementation, and ongoing support of Big Data platforms. Manage large scale Hadoop cluster environments, including designing, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring. Work with core production support personnel in Operations and Engineering to automate deployment and operation of the infrastructure.

Sr. developer for IT solutions group working on Hadoop based monitoring and analytics applications. Participate in design/architecture/planning and serve as SME for Hadoop questions. Collaborate with business functional teams to analyze and evaluate business requirements, propose the design, and implement final product. Implemented a real-time collection and processing framework for enterprise (global) systems using Avro & Flume. Programmed API-level HDFS tools used for administering Hadoop clusters & data (HDFS sync/append tools). Hadoop Map Reduce (v1) programming primarily in Java but also experienced in Perl, Ruby, R, shell, etc.As team-lead, my current role also involves researching and evaluating new technologies related to Big Data (Flume, Storm, R, SolR). I’ve spent the last 4 years implementing in-house applications & systems based on Hadoop, Avro, Sqoop, Tomcat, GWT and SolR but have also worked with other Hadoop ecosystem technologies like Sqoop, HBase, Hive, Oozie, etc.

Daily support of Unix systems in an engineering computing environment. Assists employees on procedures and instructs on use of compute farm. On call support (24/7) for internal customers. Implements system upgrades (hardware/OS updates) and configuration changes in co-ordination with US-based teams (storage, farm, compute) and internal customers. Administration of SGE, LSF, Jump-start, Kickstart and Nagios environments. Programming (ksh/perl) and automation of support tasks relating to administration of compute farm and storage (NetApp) environments.

Responsible for operations and administration of UNIX Server (AIX, Solaris and Linux) environment including base OS and system software including TSM, Tivoli, Volume Manager, Cluster. Installation and configuration of Unix systems (IBM and Sun). Planning and implementation of an automated installations environment for Solaris systems (JET). Design, sizing, installation and configuration/administration of system software (Sun Cluster, IBM HACMP, Veritas, TSM, Tivoli). Second Level support for AIX/Sun system administration. Integration of server in the SAN. Server administration in secured environment (firewalls/proxies). Works independently/coordinates activities with remote sites.

Responsible for the general administration of a mid-sized Solaris network including workstation/server systems and network administration (Cisco/HP OpenView). Implementation of Solaris jumpstart environment. Legato Networker backups. Administration of Squid proxy server, Remedy ARS (Help Desk) System, and Apache/PHP server. Planning and implementation of Citrix services under Solaris. Administration of Load Sharing Facility (LSF). Planning for Sun Grid Engine. Co-responsible for DHCP, DNS, and NIS services. Implementation and rollout of SSH services.

Responsible for the administration of server (Sun Solaris/Linux) systems, network environment (HP), and telephone system within the development department. Jointly tasked in development department with coordination and “production builds”, responsible for compiling, and publishing BinTec product software releases. Data backup/recovery.
