I work at CGI as a Telecom Consulting Director (Subject Matter Expert), as part of the Energy, Utilities and Telecoms business unit. My role is to work with our clients to ensure they are aware of the full set of CGI capabilities, and to drive the development of new capabilities to meet their needs. I previously worked in BT as part of the BT Business CIO team, leading on technology strategy development for two years. Before that, I worked in technology strategy development for three years, and have headed units looking at the future of Business Services, Converged Services, Intelligence and Applications. I spent a brief spell with Newport Networks where I worked as CTO, gaining experience of working on the supplier side of life in a small company. Prior to that, I spent 19 years at BT, ending up as Chief Voice Architect after gaining broad experience which started with areas of low level design, implementation & test, high level design, systems (OSS) development, and later on to much larger projects in lead roles.The first was the design of BT's non-geographic number portability capability - ensuring BT could meet the regulatory needs. The second was the design of BT's replacement 0800 number translation platform. I moved into the Architecture area in BT's CTO group in around 1999, and drove new directions in Voice services since then. I have an active interest in all things emerging, and thinking about new ideas and their exploitation. This led to the 21st Century Network implementation in the UK, a major network transition project.I gained a first class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering, and worked at Rolls Royce while gaining this degree.Specialties: Wide experience of telecommunications business, systems and networks, including analysis, specification, design and procurement of key components. Strategy development and evaluation of commercial and technical aspects of customer propositions prior to business case.
