As senior editor in UTB's Office of Marketing and Communication, my duties included setting editorial standards for the university, copy editing many and varied publications, copywriting and coordinating production.

As founding president of the UTB English graduate-student association, we started an international blind-peer-reviewed journal, and hosted a multistate graduate conference and other events.

I was a research assistant to Dr. Javier Martinez, executive editor of Extrapolation, a literary journal studying science fiction and fantasy. My duties included minor editing tasks in the print edition and website, as well as some pedagogical tasks, such as leading classes and grading papers.

I wrote a monthly column on Web 2.0 technologies in the technical communication professions for the Lone Star Community chapter of the STC's monthly newsletter, Technically Write. I also assisted with copy editing.

I managed the website for the Lone Star Community chapter of the Society for Technical Communication, http://stc-dfw.org. While a student the CMAI, I worked as an assistant instructor in Shao Lin Long Fist Kung Fu. My responsibilities included leading group classes and teaching private lessons for junior students. I studied kung fu for more than six years and advanced to the black belt level.
