Neighborhood Alert SystemSudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a national and global health crisis.Every year more than 356,000 people (nearly a thousand people per day) in the U.S. experience a SCA outside of a hospital, striking seemingly healthy people of all ages, including 7,000 children and teens.Currently only 1 in 10 people survive.Put into perspective, this is the equivalent of two jet planes crashing everyday with no-one surviving!Almost 80% of SCAs happen in or around our homes and 20% happen in public places.When someone has a SCA there are only minutes to help that person survive. These are our friends, neighbors and loved ones.The emergency medical services can’t solve this problem alone. The average the average time for paramedics to arrive once 911 is called is 8 to 14 minutes. If bystanders gave CPR and used an AED immediately, Three to Five Times as many people could survive.The current rate of bystander intervention with CPR is only 26%The current rate of bystander use of an AED is only 2%This needs to change!Sudden Cardiac Arrest is survivable.
