I performed various contract roles during this period and at the same time gained insight into various industries within the Australian market:FreightSafeFreightSafe (www.freightsafe.com.au) is a professional 3rd party claims administrator that has been servicing the freight industry for over 17 years.FreightSafe were undergoing a transformation process by updating their systems from a paper based system to an online system. This resulted in a backlog of data for one of their major customers. My role involved the capture and investigation of insurance claims for the freight industry.wordsearchwordsearch (www.wordsearchaus.com.au) are the global leaders in innovative, effective and creative marketing solutions for contemporary office towers, luxury residential developments, complex regeneration schemes as well as private and luxury islands.wordsearch required my services for a short term contract to conduct competitive research and analysis on a predetermined list of international luxury properties for the benefits of one of their customers.Optical Systems DesignOptical Systems Design Pty Ltd (www.osd.com.au) is an innovative Australian company that provides cost effective communication systems solutions based on optical fiber technology. OSD offers fiber optic experience and expertise unmatched in the Asia-Pacific region.OSD required my services as a QC officer. I was responsible for quality control of all products before being shipped to customers.

BigAir is the leading provider of fixed wireless broadband solutions for business and campus environments across Australia. Over the past 36 months, BigAir have acquired seven strategic organisations in order to grow from being a Fixed Wireless provider to that of a full blown ICT and Telecommunications provider. I was fortunate to have been able to be part of this strategy and transformation as from August 2014, and have contributed towards the success of BigAir. As a Product Manager, my tasks have included the consolidation of the product catalogues, the creation of a new product catalogue and relevant product documentation, the creation of a new website and the migration of customers onto a single billing platform. This is an ongoing strategy and the tasks are currently all in progress. I am also responsible for assisting our sales teams by offering product related sales training and support.

Vodacom South Africa (leading mobile network provider in South Africa) launched an Enterprise Business Unit late 2007. The purpose of this unit was to develop and deploy a set of fixed line services in order to escalate Vodacom’s reputation from being a Mobile Network Provider to that of Leading Telecommunications provider. This has enabled Vodacom to compete successfully with other Fixed Line Network Providers, Internet Service Providers, Systems Integrators and Managed Cloud Services Provider. I was fortunate to have been able to be part of this strategy and transformation and to have contributed towards the success of Vodacom Enterprise Business Unit. Apart from developing a set of Unified Communications services such as VoIP, Dedicated and Cloud PBX services, Dedicated and Cloud Video services, UC and FMC services, I was also responsible for assisting our sales and pre-sales teams in closing large Unified Communications deals with leading corporates and multinationals such as Mango Airlines (South African Airlines), DHL Courier Services, Toyota, Tso Sun (Sun International). I also dealt with various hardware, software and services providers such as Cisco, Polycom, Avaya, Siemens, Panasonic, Shortel, Mitel, Vidyo, Broadsoft, Microsoft, Q-Kon, Kathea Communications, Stortech, NIL and Dimension Data.

MWEB has transformed itself into an efficient, cost-effective and flexible outsourced IT department for growing numbers of South African businesses. MWEB is currently a Tier 1 ISP and provides services to more than 11000 business customers. I was fortunate to be part of MWEB’s Product and Marketing team and was responsible for the ongoing success of many products during my employment including VoIP, ADSL, VPN, Server Hosting and wireless products such as 3G and iBurst. I was also responsible for assisting the sales and pre-sales channels in closing deals with many SME and corporate customers.
