I've jumped feet-first into a second career as a freelance photographer. I primarily engage in on-location portrait photography - babies, young children, high school seniors, families, and business - the works. I also accept commissions to photograph specific places and to create sequences of photos to illustrate a theme, depict a product, or evoke a mood.

Led the development of an iSCSI-based host interface for a lower price band storage product. This included working with chip vendors and hardware engineers, leading a team of fifteen software engineers in four geographical locations, learning new technologies and methodologies. Generated various design documents as well as oversaw the overall development of product documentation. End products included a functional code release provided on-time to the test department. Supported the product through test and deployment to customer sites. In this role developed considerable iSCSI expertise.

Served as the technical leader for the development of a major firmware release. This role required continual monitoring of feature development for adherence to requirements and coding standards as well as ensuring that the release transits the Test process successfully and that defects discovered were addressed in a timelyfashion and resolved in a satisfactory manner. Contributed to the development of the Flash Copy feature for the next firmware release by producing the host interface firmware, assisting with the development of RAID components of the feature, and integrating these with the Virtual Memory Manager.

Managed a group that was responsible for maintaining and modifying RAID application code residing on a pair of controllers. This code included the data distribution algorithms, data caching and mirroring, data regeneration and initialization, copy services, etc. As manager was responsible for hiring/firing, manpower estimates and assignments, establishing individual and program goals, and rating employee performance. Worked with employees to develop long-term Individual Development Plans. Brought a major firmware release to on-time code completion and ensured that key team members were recognized for the accomplishment. Attended Basic Blue, the week-long IBM management training program.
