Most recently as the founder and former Executive Director of Brooklyn Free School (arguably New York's most radical center of learning," The New York Times, May 7, 2006) for ten years, a teacher, then an assistant principal for a large NYC high school for 7 years prior to that and many years of management experience before making the jump to education, I've acquired a well-rounded set of management, leadership, entrepreneurial, and operational knowledge and skills. I am passionate about helping people and programs I believe will help children take more agency in their educational life and look more broadly at the mission of education today to include a greater emphasis on social and emotional learning. To that end I am working with individuals and groups who are in the early stages of starting and developing educational alternative schools and programs.
