My career in the hospitality industry has spanned 39 years, for 19 years I operated at Financial Controller level at, Hampstead Post House, The Skyway(now Edwardian) at Heathrow, The Westbury in Mayfair, The White House in Regents Park, The Brewery in Chiswell St & Marriott Forest of Arden Golfing Resort in Warwickshire.Cluster Financial Controller for Forest of Arden, Solihull Renaissance, Marriott Birmingham, Courtyard Coventry & Courtyard Leamington SpaIn more recent years, I have operated within the UK Corporate environment within Whitbread, Marriott, & De Vere Hotels as either Brand or Regional Financial Controller.Career achievements are : •Catalyst for organisational change that resulted in the successful saving of The Brewery as a viable business from £(250k) loss to £2m profit inside 24 months. •Implemented new GL, setting a new hierarchical reporting structure for the Brewery & The Hop Farm, enabling P & L reporting on special events, enabling future decision making on event continuance. •Successfully managed the due diligence process for the sale of 13 hotels to Regal PLC for £65m.•Lead “project Optima” payroll study across De Vere hotels resulting in a reduction in payroll % from 31.5% to 30.3% in 2006. •Lead the Marriott UK multi disciplined team operational audit study, which identified £3.6m of incremental profit opportunity from the 10 hotel study. •Assisted in the repositioning financially of the Marriott Forest of Arden, resulting in 60% profit growth in 3 years to £6m pa. •Developed 3 Assistant FC’s into Cluster Financial Controllers, as well as the development of 3 finance team members into Assistant FC’s within Marriott Hotels, in 4 years. •Reduced finance headcount from 9 to 5 through rationalising processes & improving productivity across all the finance disciplines.•Business health checks that delivered £1.2m of achievable opportunity for 2009 for the hotels owner.Specialties: Identifying financial performance gaps & advising solutions,Financial Awareness Training Workshops, Excel based report modelling, Cash flow lead process change
