Officer CadetBritish Army Sep 1999 - Feb 2000Rmas SandhurstI attended and completed a pre-commissioning course called Rowallan Company. The course was arduous and challenging, but was one of the most pivotal personal development experiences of my career. It tested me physically, mentally and ethically - improving me as an individual across all 3 areas. A lot of these lessons only really came to fruition when I applied them in the civilian world, and still provide me with drive and determination during challenging situations to this day. From there, I transferred to the commissioning course to train as an army officer. Unfortunately, due to a combination of physical injury and bad luck, I had fallen behind in training and was honourably discharged with exemplary conduct in February the following year. Whilst this was to be the first major setback in my career, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to attend and for the lessons in leadership, determination and moral example that I learned while here. I still actively support veterans charities and the military community in general.
