The California Charter Schools Association advances the charter school movement through state and local advocacy, leadership on accountability, and resources for member schools. Through CCSA's organizing arm, CCSA Families, I help charter school families become leaders in their communities, uniting them into a powerful voice for excellent schools. My role focused on the development and management of the Statewide Youth Organizing Program in campaigns, school based organizing and elections.Notable Accomplishments:- Shifted program strategy to incorporate high school-aged students, increasing network size from 4 school campuses to 22 campuses within a year- Managed a team of 14 Youth Organizers and 1 Program Manager across California- Developed and tracked budget of $320,000- Scaled the Student Leadership Institute statewide training to 50+ students- Refined Organizing Curriculum to incorporate anti-oppression and racial justice frameworks- Campaign Management, won 3 Los Angeles Unified School District seats and killed statewide legislation SB808- Analyzed CCSA’s statewide legislative policy agenda and identified 4 policy priorities for organizing team, utilizing data from previous listening campaign and feedback given by constituents- Developed regional and statewide organizing strategies as a member of the Organizing Leadership team- Alongside CCSA’s Data and Analytics team, launched campaign validating a statistical model through the collection of 1,000 surveys- Oversaw the development of an inter-generational organizing model that brought adults and youth to the table to develop strategy and implement actions, campaigns and trainings- Worked with HR to create a more inclusive workspace for employees of color, youth, and LGBTQ employees- Serving on organization-wide Base-Activation Committee, developed a ladder of engagement for the organization’s stakeholders

The Gay-Straight Alliance Network (GSA Network) is a next-generation LGBTQ racial and gender justice organization that empowers and trains trans, queer and allied youth leaders to advocate, organize, and mobilize an intersectional movement for safer schools and healthier communities. My role as the National Network Manager involved providing Technical Assistance (TA) to the organizations of the 40 member National Association of GSA Networks, organizing monthly National Association conference calls, organizing GSA Network’s national annual conference (National Gathering of GSA Networks) and managing the replication program. In addition to my primary roles, I managed the national program budget, trained youth in policy advocacy, organized national campaigns, developed content for media and campaigns, represented GSA Network at conferences and in policy coalitions. Notable Accomplishments:- Organized 4 national conferences with 70-100 attendees annually- Provided TA with 98% reported finding the TA useful- Increased National Association membership by 11%- Increased National Association call attendance by 60%- Won $2.5 million investment in restorative justice programs and elimination of willful-defiance based suspensions in Oakland Unified School District- Successful replication of GSA Network program in the DC area reaching 150+ schools- 5-10% GSA growth nationally every year - Developed systems, evaluations and protocols for the National Program- Developed National Youth Council

The Commission is an independent government agency that investigates the use of resources from public and private sectors to ensure that state agencies have the resources to provide programming and services to LGBTQ youth in Massachusetts. They do this through providing policy recommendations and advocating for funding through the state budget. As the Eli J Segal Policy Fellow, I worked on two qualitative research projects that assessed the needs of LGBTQ service providers and strategies to make the Commission more youth led. Additionally, I conducted policy analysis, co-authored their annual policy recommendations, met with state legislature and established their Youth CaucusNotable Accomplishments:- Co-Authored policy recommendations to the Department of Children and Families and Department of Youth Services- Authored 2 Commission Memos- Youth developed Logic Model for the Youth Caucus- Established Youth Caucus with 5 inaugural members

MPF is an AmeriCorps program that seeks to deliver resources young people need in order to be successful in life. This program accomplishes this through the 5 promises to youth and communities by providing an effective education, a caring adult, a safe place, a healthy start and an opportunity to serve throughout the state of Massachusetts. As a Senior Fellow and Advisory Board Liaison, I worked with the Directors of the program to plan and implement orientations, retreats, workshops and activities for the Americorps class. In addition, I mentored first year fellows, served as a Co-Chair on the fundraising committee for the Advisory Board, reviewed proposals to host fellows and planned the first annual alumni fundraising event called Pass the Wagon. Notable Accomplishments:- Raised $1,500 at first annual alumni engagement event- Mentored 5 first year fellows- Engaged 25 member Americorps class at retreats, orientation and monthly trainings

The Asian Community Development Corporation is a 501(c)3 that builds healthy, vibrant neighborhoods and a strong Asian American Community in the Greater Boston Area. They do this by advocating and building affordable housing, educate the community through their first time homebuyers program and train the next generation of Chinatown Activists and organizers. Through their Youth Development Program, Asian Voices of Organized Youth for Community Empowerment (A-VOYCE), I provided programmatic management including curriculum, evaluation and assessment development. The program and curriculum emphasized principles of urban planning, social justice and leadership development in addition to Asian American identity building. I accomplished this through a year long once a week program that had an interactive workshop component to learn the principles and a practicum to learn how to speak about what they’ve learned through the A-VOYCE radio program and leading Historical Walking Tours of Boston’s Chinatown. Notable Accomplishments:- Year-long urban planning curriculum that emphasized social justice and community development- Trained and managed over 30 youth leaders - Raised over $20,000 through grants and events- Development of youth-led A-VOYCE board

The Ohio Democratic Party is a political party that works in the state of Ohio to organize and elect Democratic candidates to public offices at the local, state, and national levels. I was the first LGBT Outreach coordinator in the party’s history. During my tenure I developed and conducted outreach and GOTV throughout the state of Ohio in the LGBTQ communities. As a representative of the Ohio Democratic Party I represented the party at numerous LGBTQ events and fundraisers.
