Directing a broad-based manufacturing and engineering support for teams of ~100 manufacturing, industrial and facilities engineers (direct and contract), along with maintenance and tool and die operations, with combined variable OPEX and CAPEX budgets that are examined annually to meet projected requirements. The facility is an 800,000 sq./ft., 1,000+ union-employee facility for processes that include automatic and manual press lines (400 to 1200 ton), CNC punch presses, a blanking line, finishing processes (enamel and paint), 7 assembly lines, and packaging operations. Previously managing a cross functional engineering team, together with support from operations, to improve operational efficiency through improved labor utilization, and lower variable structural costs. Other immediate activities include, leading teams to drive improved quality through six sigma methodologies and lean thinking.Working cross-functionally, I have teamed with multiple levels of plant staff in implementation of the Electrolux Lean Manufacturing System (EMS) which has resulted in the Memphis facility receiving its first lean certification from corporate; worked with the shop team in design of new ergonomic improvements reducing high-risk activities 60% and brought about a 50% increase in performance within the OEE program with members of engineering, maintenance, and production leaders.Other changes I have brought about include implementation of a CMMS system that has generated an 80% improvement in equipment and die time; dropped expenses in indirect materials, external services, and maintenance out lays by 50%, while capturing $4.5M annually through a series of assembly line rebalancing activities.

For this 750,000 sq./ft., 2.5M units/yr. plant, I was tasked with driving cost improvements through capital investments and OEE improvements. I played a significant role in a strategic five-year plan for building expansion, assembly automation, and new product launch initiatives. One of my chief accomplishments in this position was taking ownership of $25M in ongoing projects for equipment automation and retool, paint department overhaul, and direct-ship data collection and monitoring in which all projects were completed, realizing technical objectives, while meeting schedules and budgets. I provided the engineering and project management leadership for a launch of a new product design that included building expansion, new automated press line, and robotic adhesive cells producing ~1M units annually, that generated a $6.8M annual return.

Initially, I was hired as the Primary Engineer for this manufacture of pool pumps, filters, heaters, automation devices, and lighting in the fabrication area and subsequently promoted into more diverse areas of operations due to abilities in managing increasing professional and technical responsibilities. I managed daily production issues within assigned departments that affected safety, quality, delivery, and costs (SQDC), as well as conducting evaluations on new manufacturing processes and techniques. Within my tenure, I participated or led 40+ Lean/Kaizen events/initiatives. Process improvements I initiated and brought to fruition included redevelopment of plant KPIs relative to quality, cost, and delivery that led to achievement of all SDQC targets. I was the “Good to Go” auditor across multi-site teams for procedural adherence to compliance standards. Additionally, I teamed with procurement for audits and evaluations of suppler quality and operational capabilities.A few of my quantifiable achievements include:• Leading $10M in capital equipment projects for high speed fin presses, turret presses, press brakes, vertical expander, assembly test equipment, refrigeration delivery and charging equipment, assembly tools, and fixtures. • Co-managing the on time, on budget, 15-month relocation of 2 manufacturing lines, 1 from Canada, and 1 from North Carolina. Trained the initial employee group; averted shortages with increased inventory into the DC’s, and purchased a majority of new equipment rather than relocating existing equipment, ensuring zero delays in startup. • Decreasing warranty issues from 10% up to ~100% across multiple product lines with Six Sigma initiatives and introduction of new-to-the-industry testing procedures. • Achieving a 30% improvement coating testing performance through replacement of painting processes with a heat-resistant polymer.
