Alan Blake is a co-founder and CEO of Nuclein, LLC, a private equity funded molecular diagnostics company based in Austin, Texas. Our vision is simple, affordable, rapid, and accurate testing for everyone. Nuclein's innovative, FDA EUA authorized DASH Rapid PCR System provides lab-quality PCR results at the point-of-care in just 15 minutes.Alan was previously CEO of Yorktown Technologies, which he co-founded. Yorktown was best known for GloFish®, brilliantly colored fluorescent fish, which are the world’s most visible example of consumer biotechnology and the only widely-marketed biotech animal. GloFish was sold to Spectrum Brands (NYSE: SPB) in 2017. At that point, GloFish were available in over 7,000 retail locations, with roughly 100 GloFish-branded companion products, and underpinned approximately 15% of all sales in the ornamental fish industry. Alan currently serves on the Advisory Council for the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He also serves as an Advisory Partner for Trinity Private Equity Group. He has formerly served as the Austin chapter president of the Entrepreneur’s Organization, and as a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area, Falcon Structures, PrideBites, LLC, and Well Aware, as well as a mentor for Incubation Station (now SKU). Prior to co-founding Yorktown Technologies, Alan founded ClassMap, a venture-funded online learning company that ultimately served professors at 75 universities. Alan is also a winner of the prestigious Austin Under 40 award and holds 25 U.S. patents. Alan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a BBA with Highest Honors.
