I caught the entrepreneurial bug way back when. Most likely it was when I was pumping gas for my dad, and I watched him leading and inspiring his team. Engaging with the customer. Caring that things were done right. Living by the golden rule: “treat others as you would like to be treated”. He worked long, hard days, but he provided for the family and ultimately seemed very fulfilled. I’m now proud to follow in his footsteps, albeit in technology, not gas stations and transmission shops. I’ve learned to listen better, care more, work hard (and smart), and ultimately to enjoy seeing others succeed. For real, not just lip service. Surrounding yourself with excellence sounds easy, but it’s anything but. Finding team members who share your vision, are entrepreneurial and not political, find reasons to succeed vs. excuses why things didn’t get done, is so massively important. Aligning yourself with customers, channel partners, team members, board members, and suppliers and vendors all who share your passion to live by the golden rule, and do the right things is really, really rewarding. Hard, but rewarding.TheBestAnswerIf you want to join any company I'm part of, you must be willing to focus on finding THE BEST ANSWERs. I capitalize these words because they are so important. I love when someone shares an idea, then someone challenges it or offers a different perspective, then someone builds upon what they heard and comes up with THE BEST ANSWER. When you see it happen, it’s inspiring. Be willing to let your ideas spark others, and then recognize and find joy in seeing others succeed.
