Director of a multifunctional engineering and service support unit in support of an Australian Cavalry Regiment of more than 500 members and an equipment liability worth over $200M. Responsible for the delivery of engineering, maintenance, transport and supply services and operational capability to the Regiment. I also took on the role of the lead logistic planning officer for the 250 person strong Australian Task Force before and during its deployment to Afghanistan as part of Operation Slipper. I had a team of 4 engineering or logistic officers and 87 technicians, mechanics, logisticians and drivers. Duties included:• Responsible for the delivery of technical, recovery, transport and supply services and capability to 2 Cavalry Regiment including strategic planning and operational logistic support.• Ensure the operational availability, readiness and capability of all personnel and squadron vehicles;• Ensure that all personnel are trained and competent for their role and that they conduct their business within the Health & Safety at Work regulatory framework;• Advise the Chief Executive Officer on equipment and logistic support matters and make engineering decisions where necessary;• Plan and deliver logistic support to the Australian Task Force of over 250 personnel in Afghanistan using logistic hubs in Afghanistan, UAE and several Australian locations;• Plan and move all personnel, equipment and cargo from Australia to Afghanistan and return.

Strategic logistic planner for ADF participation in national and multinational operations and exercises held within the Middle East, Jordan, Northern Queensland and the Asia Pacific region. Highlights included the successful deployment and logistic support provided to Operation SLIPPER and Exercise Talisman Sabre which is the largest Combined Joint US/Aus exercise in the region involving the participation of over 20000 people.

As Deputy Chief of Staff to the Brigade’s Chief Executive Officer I was the lead executive officer for all engineering, infrastructure, logistics and personnel matters. I had direct control of a staff of 20 professional executive officers and 10 public servants, and oversight of the activity of over 100 more personnel. I was responsible for all performance appraisal, staff & personnel support, discipline, awards, welfare and ceremonial matters and all logistic and equipment support, energy management, contracts and estates management for all Regular, Reserve, Cadet Forces and Public servants in Scotland – a total of 64 units and more than 22,000 people.

Director of a multifunctional engineering and logistic support organisation in support of a Germany-based heavily mechanised military organisation with an equipment liability of over 60 armoured and 200 wheeled vehicles, and complex surface to air missile systems worth over GBP200M. I had a team of one engineering officer and 79 technicians, mechanics, logisticians and drivers and over 60 vehicles.

This role changed to operational planning officer on deployment.• Coordinate the expenditure of up to €360M on NATO approved Command Control & Communications Information Systems• Create and manage the production of the capability development guide, statement of requirement and capability development action plan• Present capability development projects to the national Chief Executive Officers for their consideration and approval• Track capability development and fund expenditure and report quarterly to the senior executive committee• Lead the restructuring of HQ ARRC’s resource management structure
