Born in Ayr Scotland I have spent my life living on islands and never more than a couple of kilometers from the sea. Trained as an accountant in Glasgow, I formed my first company at the age of 26 in the fast moving UK fashion industry building it up to one of the largest of its type in Scotland, supplying the large multiple retailers in Europe. After 17 years running and eventually closing this business I bought a failed software company that had developed an onboard electronic vessel management system. From there I went on to grow Traceall Global into a company spanning three continents supplying some of the biggest Fortune 100 companies in the world with state of the art monitoring and traceability solutions. Following my passion, in 2016 I returned to my roots in the seafood industry developing further traceability solutions for the sector and recently joining with the Eachmile team to incorporate incentivised blockchain traceability and inventory management with a trading platform.Eachmile Technologies is a technology driven seafood trading company that develops and deploys technologies to improve the efficiencies, profitability and sustainability of global supply chains by working with our fishers and farmers, governments and multinationals to build solutions that reach the first mile. Our team includes experts within various disciplines – from seafood and aquaculture, technology, procurement and supply chain management – in order to understand the mechanisms that drive change and unlock value. As an example, the open source Trace Protocol enables initiatives such as the Fishcoin Project, which is an incentivised blockchain traceability system that rewards those at the start of supply chains for sharing their data, and for those in the middle of supply chains, a user pay market based mechanism for meeting regulatory and buyer requirements. The mFish and mFarmer applications share best practice information and are free to access and use in over 50 countries with collaborating mobile operators. Importantly, these, and future initiatives help us and our partners reach the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

We can trace every fish we catch electronically back to the boat and crew who caught it. We only buy hook and line caught yellowfin tuna . One fishermen, one hook one fish. We fund and track many of our boats on the open ocean by satellite to ensure our boats and our fishermen are safe . We take the same approach in our processing plant by supporting our staff, all of who have a say in how we run our business. We like to think we are different in our approach in how we run LBS to ensure that our customers and the public who are eating our product can be comfortable knowing everyone along the supply chain has been fairly rewarded. The legality of our fish is never questionable. We carry the Marine Stewardship Council certification and the British Retail Consortium certification. This hunger for sustainable and legal fish in our business is also in our DNA . Our business is growing fast and I am hugely excited to be taking on this role and continuing to work with our amazing team members here in Indonesia and further growing this business for our incredibly supportive investors the Meloy Fund in the US.

Having sourced sufficient funding to build the premises and fill it with knitwear machinery and 15 employees the turnover, and orders grew to a level where new premises had to be sourced within 3 years . Another factory 5 years later. The business supplied the major retailers in the fashion industry in Europe, Top Shop , Etam , Internationale, H&M , C&A , Jeffrey Rogers , Quizz to name a few. At its height it would run 7 days a week on 3 shifts and have approaching 100 employees . An incredible industry in some of the most exciting times in recent history. The business skills learned during this period have enabled me to globalise future business interests and become a global player.
