Responsible for initiating and implementation research projects, teaching undergraduate courses.Conducted a comprehensive case study of 4 product development (PD) projects in 3 facilities of a manufacturing firm. RESULTS: The project helped transform the company’s PD into a distinctive competency. Two viable yet distinct strategies emerged for knowledge creation, accumulation and transfer. Award-winning publications on knowledge transfer in PD in several venues.

Responsible for department charged with the engineering, design and manufacture of 250 new product orders per year. Rebuilt a department decimated by turnover by recruiting and developing 4 engineers. RESULTS: Eliminated a backlog of 75 orders ($15M potential new business) in a 4 month period. The NPD process became streamlined where on-time order delivery became the norm. The department developed into an autonomous unit and a training bed for new engineers.

Responsible for all aspects of a new product launch project, including concurrent product engineering, experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, process documentation, employee training and production ramp up into a manufacturing facility in Nashville, TN. Directed entire project end-to-end, fully interacting with end customer, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and Senior Executives. RESULTS: Successful, seamless conversion of a $10 million product line to a material superior in performance yet lower in cost. Cost savings over $600,000 annually. Over $2M new revenue. 100% on-time delivery with customer prototype orders.

Research Engineer. Responsible for material formulation, experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, testing for automotive brake linings. Liaison to dynamometer testing facility in Mahwah, NJ. Investigated causes of “wet skid” problems for trucks and SUVs, as well as “disk transverse wear” problems for mid-size sedans. RESULTS: Retained business for two product lines by isolating source of the problems and communicating results to customer.

Responsible for fulfillment of over 300 price quotation requests from customers each year. Managed the routing of requests through Engineering, Accounting and an Executive Committee for pricing new products. RESULTS: Converted a manual, paper-based system to spreadsheets, reducing cycle time as well as improving reusability and quality.

While attaining engineering degree, I worked on small projects on a rotating basis through several functional areas, including Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing.
