I was enjoying travelling in our motorhome post-retirement, but when Covid19 hit, our travel plans were put on hold. Wanting something useful to do until the pandemic was over I re-joined Cumbria Police as a PC in their Comms Centre. The work/life balance suited so I stayed as I felt I was still doing something worthwhile. Now due to a Force policy change, I've hung up my handcuffs (!) after 32 yrs (as 2968 and 1564) and started in my role role as a civilian dispatcher in the Communication Centre.I enjoyed my years front-line policing - seven of them on Carlisle streets, ten on traffic which included 6 years Armed Response Vehicle and specialising in HGV enforcement, 7 years working the rural around Longtown/Brampton and leading up to retirement, in the Communications Centre at HQ.Co-author of Home Office/Police Research Group publication "Immediate Medical Care at Firearms Incidents" which resulted from extensive research in the UK, NI and the US with my good friend, Stuart Campbell.
