About Alaska Justice
I'm a third-year student studying anthropology at Texas State University. I have a driven passion and insatiable curiosity for research around humanitarian issues. I'm currently conducting undergraduate research under the mentorship of Dr. Kate Spradley, where I use elements of forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology to study the dignity in burial practices paid to deceased presumed migrants. I also work with the Cuala Foundation, a non-profit I started with while studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland, and have continued with remotely since returning to the US. With Cuala, I focus on the deep rooted discrimination against the Traveller population, working with their community to make them seen by Irish lawmakers. I draft and revise cultural reports, conduct archival research, and work with government policy in order to effectively heal structural marginalization which was amplified by long-lasting foreign occupation. As a student, I've also worked conducting community research and ethnographies, and I aim to continue my education through my PhD in graduate school, with the goal of working as a researcher studying forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology.
