Following a career as Common Law Barrister culminating in a specialist practice of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Alastair took an appointment as Asylum and Immigration Judge for 10 years. He is now retired from this full time job and has returned to Lamb Chambers in the Temple as a Mediator. He is also a member of Scottish Mediation with a base in Moray offering services throughout the country. During the course of his career Alastair was appointed inter alia a Recorder in 1992 and Legal Assessor to the General Medical Council in 2000 and qualified as a fully accredited CEDR Mediator in 2002. In September 2015 he obtained his Master's Degree in Mediation and Conflict Resolution at Strathclyde University which involved research and practice in new and innovative approaches to Mediation and the whole concept of Alternative Dispute Resolution. This qualification is unique and is invaluable in the services he can offer as a Mediator. He sat as a Recorder in the Civil and Private Family Law Jurisdictions as well as in Crime in the Crown Court for some 25 years. He was an Advocacy Trainer at the Middle Temple for over 20 years. He has been a Moot Judge at the Middle Temple and externally for some 10 years. He is a member of the Strathclyde University Mediation Clinic both as a Coordinator and Mediator. He carries out pro bono Mediation at the Glasgow Sheriff's Court. He is a Chair on the Children's Panel Scotland. He is an Independent Prison Monitor in Scotland. He obtained his MSc. at Loughborough London in 2018 in Diplomacy Peace Keeping and International Security and maintains a keen interest in International affairs
