Dr. Alauna S. Mcgee Email and Phone Number
After working within the corporate financial sector for a number of years, I returned to the academic arena at Illinois State University, where I was an adjunct in the School of Communication, collaborated with TRIO Student Support Services on efforts to help students historically relegated to the margins, served as the University's communication and events coordinator for the National American Democracy Project, worked with University College to teach first-year experience courses and establish the Civic Engagement & Responsibility Minor, and partnered with the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology to conduct professional development sessions for other faculty.Formerly, as the Director of Early College Opportunities at Heartland Community College, I maintained partnerships with 20 secondary schools and two corporations. For over ten years, I served Illinois District 540 by advancing dual credit opportunities for high school students that reduce overall college debt, decrease time-to-degree completion, and increase access to higher education for minoritized students. Without a clearly defined blueprint, I developed effective administrative processes and communication protocols within the College and across the community. I stay abreast of national accreditation standards, state legislative policies, and regional/local trends concerning concurrent enrollment programs. My doctoral study centered on galvanizing more early college practitioners in Illinois to enhance dual credit opportunities and outcomes by showcasing benefits (e.g., professional development, professional networking, state listserv access, safe spaces, and advocacy opportunities) offered through membership with the Illinois Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (ILACEP).I am a visionary leader and proven problem-solver with multimodal communication acumen, proficient collaboration strategies, and preeminent people and process management skills that allow me to cross between academic and corporate forums seamlessly. Additionally, I am an education consultant, personal/professional development facilitator, motivational speaker, mentor, and the new Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and College Transitions.
