Alban Dickson is a Chartered Sport & Exercise Psychologist (HCPC Registered) at Heart of Midlothian FC. He possess expertise in event management, volunteer management, social media, project management, public speaking and 24 more skills. He is proficient in Swedish. Colleagues describe him as "Alban is an warm and engaging sport psychologist who is skilled at altering the level of his message to suit the audience he is working with. We have worked together over the past year; Alban has provided Sport Psychology services to our Scottish Fencing Pathways athletes and has also delivered online "Mindfulness in Fencing" webinars to our members. It has been a good learning opportunity for me to watch how Alban is able to simplify intellectually challenging concepts so they can be understood and applied by people of all ages.
Alban's passion for psychology and mindfulness, and the benefits they can have on the well-being and performance of athletes, is clear to see. He is engaging and likeable, which allows him to easily break through barriers that athletes can create when asked to try something new or different. He exudes calm and has great rapport with his colleagues that he delivers with. What impressed me most was the amount of preparation he and his colleagues do for sessions with our fencing athletes; although fencing is a sport they are unfamiliar with they clearly put it the effort to understand the game before working with the athletes.
As a Leader, Alban will be successful because he clearly values the people that he works with. He would be an asset to any team and I am happy to give him my full recommendation."
