I was hired and mostly worked as the warehouse manager and beer packaging assistant but later transitioned to being one of the brewers who worked the hot as well as the cold side of our small facility. I would describe my work experience at Heavy Riff Brewing Company as very well rounded and touching on almost all areas of beer production and distribution.

As one of only three employees (later only two) all of us shared many duties and despite me being officially in an assistant role my responsibilities touched on most areas of BOH beer production, from brewing, to cellaring, to packaging, to storing, to distributing. Especially my time spent on the road with our mobile Cask packaging machine taught me many valuable skills in addition to working with a stationary machine. As anybody who works in the brewing industry a lot of my time of course was also spent with "janitorial duties" to maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure a high standard of hygiene and thus beer quality. Towards the end of my stay I was also involved in helping to design and print our beer labels.

My one year stint as general manager of PW Pizza & 21st Street Brewer's Bar during the 2020 Covid pandemic taught me many valuable soft skills and toughened me up in many ways. It was a character building experience which I will treasure for the rest of my life but I was also glad to move on to pursue my passion for beer and brewing.

I started out as bartender and was made one of two bar managers around February 2019. During my few years at 21st Street Brewer's Bar I learned everything there is about craft beer, bartending, bar management, customer service and customer retention. I'm incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to work with the most fantastic team imaginable and a fantastic co-manager all of who made 21st Street Brewer's Bar one of the best craft beer bars in all of Saint Louis with a great amount of amazing regulars. I also worked the historic and unforgettable night of the 2019 Stanley Cup victory of the Saint Louis Blues hockey team which was objectively the best work shift ever.

My first job in the food industry. I started out as a server but quickly transitioned to working the bar. A year later (while mostly working at 21st Street Brewer's Bar below PW Pizza) I worked as part-time floor manager. Here I also had to be trained in our open kitchen and there I learned from the chefs how to maintain food safety and food quality to the highest possible standards and of course also how to build, bake and serve an amazing pie of pizza.
