As a Project Engineering at Chavond-Barry Engineering (CBE) my primary responsibilities include troubleshooting incinerator operational problems, bid review, inspections, air emissions permits, and assisting our clients with emissions testing.- Troubleshooting incinerator operational problems is a key aspect of my job at CBE.  Troubleshooting spans the whole spectrum from finding quick solutions to a problem to long term studies and modeling of sophisticated operational problems to find the root cause and solution for our clients.- Bid review is an important component of my job because our clients rely on us to provide quality components and competent contractors to perform the work at their sites. - Inspections provide a valuable service to our clients by helping them to understand the condition of their plant.  My role in these inspections typically involves entering the equipment, noting items which need to be fixed immediately and items to monitor, writing a report and recommending methods and materials to fix the problem areas.  Additionally, we will often check on the progress of the contractor to help ensure the job is conducted in an efficient and timely manner.- My permitting work typically involves calculating the plant emissions, generating and submitting permit modifications to the DEP, and reviewing draft permits.  I work closely with our clients to understand their process and provide feedback to our client and the DEP regarding the permits.- Emissions testing for our clients must be conducted on a set schedule and includes a variety of Federal (USEPA) and State (NJDEP, PADEP, etc.) emissions limits.  My job on-site during stack testing is to help tune the incinerator operation, recommend operational adjustments, and coordinate the various parties involved to achieve a successful test. After the test reports are generated I carefully go through the reports and lab data to ensure they are accurate and correct.

As a Project Engineer at Amec Foster Wheeler my key responsibilities are documentation review and updating, meetings/conference calls to resolve problems/questions, tube wall thickness calculations, equipment testing/troubleshooting, and visits to refineries worldwide to troubleshoot various types of process heaters.  - Project documentation must be reviewed in a timely fashion to ensure it is in compliance with the various codes, standards, and requirements of the job and that questions asked about the documents are resolved in an efficient and timely manor.- Weekly project meetings/conference calls enabled everyone to keep up-to-date on project developments and help resolve questions.- During my time as a Project Engineering I generated a new standard tube wall thickness calculation spreadsheet for my department which enabled it’s user to select between a variety of codes and calculation types using intuitive menus to efficiently perform a wide variety of calculations.- Testing of process burners and fans was conducted at the manufacturer’s shop and helped ensure a quality product was being supplied to our customers.  A wide variety of conditions must be met before a piece of equipment is deemed acceptable.- Refinery troubleshooting allowed me to get first-hand experience assisting our clients with process heater operations to solve real-world problems.

As a Steam System Engineer at Amec Foster Wheeler, my scope of work includes designing/sizing of steam/water handling equipment, testing of process burners and fans, field visits to oil refineries worldwide to troubleshoot process heaters, and being the intermediary between clients and vendors to ensure that our designs both meet customer and feasibility requirements.-Sizing equipment for Process heater systems (to name a few: heat exchangers, pumps, valves, piping and relief valves), while maintaining ASME, API, and client specific design standards.-Creating process heater project proposals for clients at refineries and chemical plants around the world. - Responsible for nearly all performance testing of process burners and rotating equipment for Amec Foster Wheeler’s Fired Heater division!- Trouble-shooting process heater issues encountered by clients around the world.
