Development and Support of Finance Applications

Building, Designing and Cosmetically updating new and existing mobile applications on Googles' Android Studio & Eclipse, for large and small firms. Attending training in Android and Java development.

Development and Support to most of DeVry systems in a 24 hour on-call role. My teams role is to maintain all systems applications we are responsible for, when called upon by the operations group. This entailed most of the DeVry Education Group Corporate daily job streams in the United States. The team also did new development work in addition to real time production repairs. A fourth of the applications are built by vendor. While the remaining applications were changed from Banner (Ellucian) to Java. I was responsible for supporting the vendor related problems. And responsible for fixing java projects originally built by DeVry IT, which were once Banner. New projects involved design and specification building. All tests for new projects were defined within Agile Sprints and presented for approval to proceed by daily Scrum Committee. Agile teams followed Test Driven Development principles.On the Integration team, I worked daily with Spring Framework, Maven, Oracle, Stored procedures, Hibernate and Unix. The entire team also worked with Weblogic for webservices. SoapUI for REST, JSON and XML requests. J-Unit, and test driven development standards. Eclipse IDE with Java 7. Hudson for version control. I worked exclusively with the Corporate Administration team on an ongoing spiral project known as C-Factor which was a front-end application for Employees and their relatives attending DeVry University. Depending on the employment status and wage, as a student, a percentage of their tuition is paid for by DeVry. The application would give approval and percentage of annual allotment, to the employee, on the DeVry Employee Benefits website.

Production support of Microsoft based system. Monitoring and fixing applications built in C#, Visual Studios and SQL Server. Assisting immediate customer problems that may involve missing financial data. Building small applications involving FTP & batch, while learning the financial applications and daily job streams, our department ran 24 hours a day.

Globex Command Center Technical Representative.Handling technical analysis of a leading futures industry exchange system. Addressing a wide range of customer problems, which deal with network connectivity & application issues to potential million dollar liability claims. My role in this fast paced environment is to provide technical support in real time, analyze customer logs and/or system performance and provide a prompt analysis and reply. Querying data and building spreadsheets to reveal a system or customer problem are daily tasks. Coordinating support teams for immediate critical problems or investigating software updates are essential. My technical development background is foundation for understanding detailed aspects of the trading system and enhance my value as technical support. I am also capable of building small java applications and manage projects to aid in automating analysis of critical production components. Built and designed the team’s website which consists of HTML, Wiki, java, oracle.

Participated in developing object oriented systems from design to implementation. Developed Web Enabled screens in Java, EJB, MVC and struts. Also used the CoolGen CASEtool to develop web enabled client screens by java proxy on a three tier application. This entailed regenerating java proxy screens and updating them to the latest Coolgen 6.0 Web Client Enablement feature. I have re-engineered and supported Cobol based financial service programs into java/Tibco and jsps. And I have also participated in building and supporting a Java/XML bridgeback program which moves oracle data to Db2 tables via an XML Sax Parser. Volunteered and participated in research and development, to establish object oriented web enabled programs. Assisted in the development of the staff knowledge of HTML, JSP and XML. Trained co-workers on building web enabled screens. And support production issues, maintaining JSP. I am also talented with Cobol/CICS/DB2 programming experience. Some of my biggest accomplishments include flowcharting several systems to help establish a documentation foundation for a revised system. As well as, contributing to an outlined description of a production support plan. Portions of this outline were implemented to modify the current production support systems. As a result, the production support plan grew into a large firecall support group. I am also responsible for supporting one of several trade systems and various supporting programs.

To rebuild a scheduling system used by students for assigning shiftrelated responsibilities. The JSF project is done on NetBeans IDE with tomcat, and incorporates Toplink ( & hibernate exposure) for mySQL

Learning of programming languages (Cobol & PL1), on the Allstates' AllStar System and experiencing hands on training in assigned areas. Hands on training include editing and string tests in TSO and CICS. On the job programming languages involve COBOL, PL/1, using JCL and DB2 under an MVS operating system.

Technical service consultant and representative of Color and Appearance Science for measuring plastics via spectrophotometry. One among three color measurement instrument application specialists; the leading specialist in color formulation for all plastics, coatings and cement applications, also assisting in textile applications. Provided telephone and on-site support; technical training for HunterLab sales group as well as customers from all over the world. Planned and participated as an instructor in HunterLab’s Color and Appearance seminars. Participated in various quality control software design committees, color formulation software designcommittees and software/color measurement instrument review committees.Traveled to customer plants around the world as the specialist in color formulation for plastics. Traveled frequently to South America and Asia to train companies on how to use the spectrophotometer and how to improve quality assurance in their daily plant operations. And support sales agents with new potential customers.

Developed new color technology procedures and ideas. Developed testing procedures for approving new pigments for production. Created and managed a recycling plan for hazardous pigment waste. Expanded production floor color palette by incorporating organic pigments into the inventory. Developed mixing procedures toachieve the best pigment dispersions among organic and inorganic pigments.

Monitored and maintained progress of color and quality of plastic sheets produced by calender for extrusion. Involved with color matching and correction with ACS Chroma Calc software for PC.

Corporate Management Trainee Program. Learn the Hotel Industry departments and management positions. Assist and contribute new ideas to improve current department procedures. Learn the role of manager at Hyatt. Perform management responsibilities.Traveled to San Francisco to help the Bay Area hotels for one month, acting as assistant managers & managers to current staff. We returned to Chicago one week before the big earthquake hit ( in San Francisco, October 1989 ).

Assistant to Building Manager. Managed building activities during evening and weekends without supervision. Hired, fired and trained student workers. Monitored and scheduled student responsibilities. Designed and created displays for conference center show cases. Recorded and graphically analyzed programs for fiscal review. Independently initiated and completed special projects, such as designing new computer features for front desk scheduling monitor; designing and producing scaled room drawings for 25 conference rooms.
