In this role, I mainly work with the engineering team by helping them assemble prototypes and construct small test jigs for proof of concept tests. In this position, I am expected to research and maintain proficient design knowledge so that I will deliver products that meet or exceed client expectations. I also am responsible for planning and implementing an organized system for the engineering shop in order to promote work-time efficiency. Some of my other tasks include collaborating with other department heads within STEL to promote office organization and make an appealing space that reflects our focus on designing top quality products.

In this role, I collaborate with a sub-team of 4 engineers to design and refine a robust structure to house our rocket systems. I also worked on selecting materials and designing a structure for conducting a water-flow test. Some other tasks in the structures team include maintaining and overseeing the development of the 3D-CAD models as well as creating strong and functional structures for a diverse number of tests and operations.

I successfully constructed a prototype shoe meant for actively addressing the issue of drop foot in people who suffer from that condition. I was hired to this position to apply my skills and knowledge in machining practices, manufacturing, and design for creating prototypes for a researcher on campus. I was responsible for keeping track of my progress in order to turn in a practical manufacturing process plan for potential, bulk production in the future. I was also in charge of identifying and addressing obstacles in the machining/manufacturing process that conflicted with the design specifications.

In this position, I was responsible for helping the maintenance department manager plan a schedule for the maintenance mechanics. In order to complete my tasks efficiently I also had to maintain frequent communication with other department managers to ensure equipment downtime was minimized during maintenance repairs and adjustments. I also had to consistently examine different facility equipment and areas to ensure they met our safety standards and/or were functioning properly. Some of my other responsibilities included external client communication, reviewing facility invoices for tracking expenses, and assisting other external departments such as the safety and engineering departments with reviews and updates.
