Director of Industry Relations for the Design Professional unit of XL GroupAl RabascaI have35 years in the insurance industry, 27 of which have been in the specific area of A/E professional liability. After several years in auto and general liability, I started as a Claim Consultant with DPIC in 1987, became a licensed insurance broker in 1992 and then returned to DPIC in 1995, eventually working as Assistant Regional Claim Manger. I also worked as Regional Claim Manager for Kemper’s Architect’s and Engineer’s Construction Group and, most recently, served as one of XL’s Senior Claim Consultants for the Design Professional group in their Bloomfield, N.J. Claims Office. While working as a claim consultant, I handled thousands of claims and loss prevention matters, attended hundreds of arbitrations, mediations and trials and reviewed hundreds of contracts for my A/E insureds.I now work directly with the A/E professional organizations on a national level, including the AIA Documents Committee and ACEC, serving on several of their committees. I maintain close relationships with many design professionals, PLAN agents, brokers and defense counsel across the country and remain well-versed in the many complex issues facing A/E’s today. I currently reside in Montclair, New Jersey with my wife Jerilyn. We have three adult sons Michael, Paul and Stephen.
