I had the chance to learn and gain a tremendous amount of knowledge as well as skills crucial for my own improvements. I believe it was a valuable internship for both me and the company.As a Development intern, I was responsible to organise and review pitch decks which are sent out directly to owners/clients. I was also tasked to thoroughly research and conduct strategy papers on hotels development potential for IHG in multiple Asian countries, providing insights on opportunities for more hotel openings. One of these papers was utilised and presented by Adeline, the director of the Development Team, in one of her guest talks about Singapore Hospitality Market Trends in a Real Estate Development module at my alma mater, NUS. There are times when I was pushed out of my comfort zone and given responsibilities outside of my job scope, which further added to my skillset and experience. One task includes hosting a hotel visitation with CBRE at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, further strengthening partnership and ties. Moreover, I was entrusted to run both of the directors' corporate social media accounts with the vision to heighten IHG brand awareness.Through the mentorship of Adeline Phua, I was able to excel and perform more than satisfactorily as per her testimony. As such, from this fruitful internship, I was equipped with marketing, teamwork, presentation, data sourcing and analysis, communication, as well as critical-thinking skills.
