Albert Rex is the Principal of the Historic Tax Credit group at Ryan, LLC. Ryan is an award-winning global tax services and software provider. Ryan’s credits and incentives practices help businesses realize and maximize opportunities that align with their overall business goals. Our full-service practice covers credits (including federal and state historic tax credits and the New Market Tax Credit), incentives, site selection services, and historic preservation consulting. We work collaboratively with clients to develop a strategy, negotiate, and execute the actual incentives package, and prepare and file all required applications and compliance reports. Prior to Ryan, Albert was a Partner and CEO at MacRostie Historic Advisors, LLC, a national historic tax credit consulting firm. Albert’s career has really focused on the intersection of historic preservation and real estate. First working with several different non-profits in Massachusetts and New England and then with MHA. He was one of four authors of the original legislation that created the Massachusetts Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit (MAHRTC) and has consulted on that matter as a technical advisor to Preservation Massachusetts, Inc., the statewide non-profit advocacy organization. He has also actively worked with other states in regards to their state tax credit programs. In addition to administrative duties, Albert provides clients with a unique understanding of the different state tax credit programs, especially in New England, and helps client think through ways to maximize these programs in their projects. He has represented clients in appeals to the National Park Service in Washington, DC and has also worked with the Historic Monuments Program administered by the GSA and regional National Park Service offices.Albert participates is Vice Chair of the Historic Tax Credit Coalition (HTCC), serves on the Legislative Affairs Committee for Preservation Massachusetts and is the past chair and former board member of the CrossroadsContinuum in Marlborough, MA an organization that support individuals on the autistic spectrum.
