I am Full Professor of Mineralogy in the Department of Mineralogy, Petrology and Applied Geology of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). In 1990, with several colleagues we founded the Mineralogia Aplicada i Medi Ambient (MAiMA) research Group, considered as a “consolidated team” by the Catalonia Government since 1995. The name of the Group has changed to Mineralogia Aplicada, Geoquímica i Geomicrobiologia (MAG) research Group. My expertise is related to the application of stable and radiogenic isotopes to geological and environmental investigations. My research interests are focused on the use of chemical and isotopic tools to identify contamination sources, to evaluate the evolution of the contaminants and to foresee natural and induced attenuation processes. Current research lines are focused on agricultural, urban and industrial pollution sources, with a special aim in the isotopic characterization of natural and induced attenuation processes.I have published more than 74 papers in journals indexed in the SCI and I presented more than 250 contributions to scientific conferences. I have participated as an organizer of several conferences, symposiums and courses. I has been the main researcher in more than 55 funded competitive projects (Spanish and European) and more than 75 contracts with private companies or public bodies.I have demonstrated high qualification for training young researchers, as I has been the supervisor of 15 PhD theses, 18 research works and M.Sc. Thesis. As a university professor, I am also teaching in master and post-graduated courses in other universities as Universitat. Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Universidad Internacional de Andalucía. I have been involved in an intense institutional activity being the vicedean for research of the Faculty of Geology in the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) among other institutional activities.
