I started welding when I was 13 years old and my love for the skill, technique and industry keeps growing stronger with each new qualification acquired, work achievement reached, experience gained or knowledge shared. I believe that learning about welding is a never ending process as I am still learning new things every day from great minds and hands in the industry. I am motivated to keep studying and advancing in my professional career, but will never loose touch with where it all started and my love for the actual welding process. 14 years working in the welding department, starting as a welding assistant gained me extensive technical knowledge as well as problem solving and process management skills, I work well in a office and site based environment and I am not afraid to get involved with multiple activities. I manage high pressure and responsibility situations well. I am a critical thinker, thus decision making at critical times is one of my greatest attributes. Knowledge and education can earn many achievements, but I believe that passion and hard work sets us apart.

  • Weld procedure management.• Workflow planning, optimization of welding & fabrication techniques & resources.• Managing & implementing all aspects of welding engineering.• Ensure the calibration & maintenance of welding equipment.• Ensure welders use the correct WPS during welding operations and the correct consumables are used according to the process card.• Ensure worker register is up-to-date and valid work permits used for the production day.• Ensure and track the production is achieved through daily, weekly and monthly planning. Recommend welding production improvement methods where necessary.• Ensure and maintain good housekeeping principles.• Ensure compliance with consumable usage, handling & storage on site e.g. hotboxes as per product specification.• Liaise with blue collar workforce (welders & fitters), welding foremen, welding supervisors and AIA to ensure compliance and adherence of documentation, procedure and activities to appropriate codes,standards and product specifications.• Responsible for all scaffold coordination for Babcock.• Laisse and manage all sub-contractors under Babcock’s scope that include insulation, cranes etc.• Interface between Babcock and other welding sub-contractors like ACTOM, Steinmüller etc. on welding related activities.• Assist in theoretical and practical training (development) of welding foremen, supervisors & welders.• Perform surveillance for verification and dimensional inspections before, during and after welding.• Perform visual inspection of welds prior to sub-contractor NDE requests, evaluate NDE results.• Provide support to the Project Welding Department in the execution of all welding related duties on site, resolve any site welding concerns (problem solving) and provide technical advice plus training on site.• Do regular reports to Head of Departments.• Work unsupervised, under pressure and manages sub-contractors.
